Aaron Cook won his first medal for Moldova at the World Taekwondo Championship, Olympic version, held in Russia’s Chelyabinsk. The naturalized British athlete won bronze in the 80 kg class, IPN reports.
The sportsman finished third after losing to Damon Sansum of the UK 13-14 in the semifinals. Aaron Cook, who represented the UK at the 2008 Olympic Games, considers that he was ignored at the London Olympics.
At the competitions in Chelyabinsk, Moldova was also represented by Vladislav Arventi, Vadim Dimitrov, Stepan Dimitrov, and Andrei Rotaru.
