A 51-year-old Moldovan has tried to leave the country with 50 thousand undeclared euros in his checked baggage on the Chisinau-Bucharest flight. According to a press release of the Border Police, the law enforcement officers acted according to the risk analysis, while the man risks a fine and a confiscation of undeclared money, IPN reports.
"After verifying the travel documents according to the control procedures, with the help of the provided equipment, there have been found irregularities pertaining to the contents of the checked baggage. Thus, Customs Service employees have been informed, the required investigations being carried out jointly”, the statement says.
According to the quoted source, when the luggage was opened there were found banknotes of 50 euros each, in the total amount of 50 thousand. "The man admitted that the baggage belonged to him, but he could not legally justify the ownership of the money," says the statement.
The financial means were confiscated and handed over to the customs authority within the Chisinau International Airport for further procedures.
