A man from the Telenesti district, suspected of killing a 10-month-old child, was placed in preventive detention. He was charged with committing the crime of murder and rape, the General Prosecutor's Office announces, IPN reports.
It is about Alexei Cotorobai, the brother of Gheorge Cotorobai, sentenced to life for the murder of a 19-year-old pregnant girl in Orhei.
The case came to light as a result of a journalistic investigation. Alexei Cotorobai would have killed a 10-month-old child, 15 years ago, in Telenesti, but the case would have been covered up. His mother, who was a minor at the time, was convicted for the child's death.
In this context, the General Prosecutor's Office self-reported, initiating the review procedure of the criminal case in which the defendant (the child's mother) was acquitted of committing the crime, and the criminal case of the child's murder was resumed for further investigations.
