A current and two former secretaries of state at Ministry of Foreign Affairs proposed for ambassador

Secretary of state at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Dumitru Socolan was nominated for Moldova’s Ambassador to Japan. The candidate was approved by the Parliament’s commission on foreign policy and European integration, IPN reports.

Dumitru Socolan studied law. He has held the post of secretary of state at the Ministry since December 2019.

Also today, Daniela Cujbă, who served as secretary of state at the same Ministry until August 2021, was named Moldova’s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe. She studied international relations and political sciences. Since August 2020 until present, she held the post of head of the European Integration Division of the Ministry. Since September 2020 until August 2021, she served as secretary of state.

The commission on foreign policy also designing a new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the United Nations. This is Gheorghe Leucă, who was approved by a majority of votes of the commission members.

Gheorghe Leucă studied law. In 2019-2021, he served as secretary of state at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. In August 2021, he was named ambassador with special missions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In accordance with the legislation, the ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary, permanent representatives, envoys and charge d’affaires en titre are named to posts and recalled by the President of the Republic of Moldova, at the proposal of the Government. The candidates are fielded by the minister of foreign affairs and European integration by consulting the Parliament’s commission on foreign policy and European integration. The minister of foreign affairs and European also proposes dismissing the persons from these posts.
