ACUM bloc wants a prosecutor from another country, but a constituent part of the parliamentary majority does not support the elimination of the requirement regarding the citizenship of the General Prosecutor. The commentary belongs to Prime Minister Maia Sandu, asked by journalists whether giving up on the idea of a prosecutor from abroad, a fact revealed last night, at a television show by the Minister of Justice, Olesea Stamate, was a personal position or one favoured by the Bloc.

"Political reality is what it is. We want to go ahead with the reform of the Prosecutor's Office, so that we can elect an excellent prosecutor," said Maia Sandu, quoted by IPN.

The prime minister said that she would encourage more citizens of Moldova working as prosecutors in countries with a reliable system to apply for the position of prosecutor general. "I wish that prosecutors or people with work experience in Romania, in the United States of America, in other countries of the European Union would apply, as they could quickly set things in motion here," said Maia Sandu.
