The regulations concerning the protection of animals approved by the Chisinau Municipal Council are not respected, while the necropolis does not have the equipment needed to neuter the dogs as these regulations provide, stated activist Galina Muratova, who told the municipal councilors about the problem of animals without shelter, IPN reports.
According to her, the problem of animals has remained unsolved for many years even if money is allocated from the municipal budget for the purpose. Galina Muratova noted that the number of animals in the city continues to rise as the officials in charge of the cleanup company “Autosalubritate” catch the dogs, sterilize and vaccinate them and set them free again and the citizens are dissatisfied with their presence of the streets. The responsibility should be shifted onto animal shelters, but these should be allotted money so that they could catch, neuter and vaccinate the dogs professionally and on time.
Her colleague Iana Veber said the public funds at the necropolis are misused and proposed that the councilors should constitute a commission of inquiry.
