A central street of Chisinau to be named after Emil Loteanu

The local authorities of Chisinau take into account the possibility to re-name a central street of the capital after the famous late cineaste Emil Loteanu, as result of the fact that Chisinau Municipal Council has renounced, at the last meeting, to name after him a street of the new district of Rascani. The councilors considered that the name of Emil Loteanu has to be given to a more important street of the capital, requiring the Architecture and Urbanism Department (DAU) to identify this street, and also to check the costs it will be needed for changing the name, passports and addresses. DAU proposal to re-name Studentimii Street into Emil Loteanu Street was rejected by CMC, of the same reason - „Loteanu is a personality, and his name has to be given to a more important street of the capital”. The director, actor, script-writer and poet Emil Loteanu was born in 1936 and died on 18 April 2003. Among his most famous movies are „Satra”, „Dulcea si tandra mea fiara”, „Lautarii”, „Ana Pavlova”, etc.
