Those who embrace the ideal of the union with Romania on December 2 took part in a march to celebrate the 99th anniversary of the union of December 1, 1918 and the constitution, as a result, of the unitary Romanian state. The marchers gathered together at the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great, IPN reports.

Laura Cotogoi-Mushinschi, ninth grader of the Theoretical Lyceum “Gaudeamus”, said the participation in this march is a holiday for her. “We are Romanians and celebrate the national holydays that represent us. We want to show everyone that the union between the two states is important and inevitable and we struggle for this,” she stated.

Stefan Domos from Chisinau said he is near those who want the Romanian nation to be reunited. “We need the union. We were united, but in 1940 they separated us. A new union is now needed,” he noted.

According to George Simion, chairman of the unionist platform “Actiunea 2012”, today’s march was mounted to inform the citizens that the year 2018 will be dedicated to Moldova’s union with Romania. “We want to say that we love the Republic of Moldova, we love Romania. These two states should unite and form one country,” he stated.

Maxim Gutu, of the National Unity Party, said that for the party he represents the reunification of the Romanian nation is a key goal. “We take part in all the events dedicated to the union. 2018 will be the year of the 100th anniversary of the union and this way we make common cause with all the Romanians from Moldova so as to make the unionist movement in the Republic of Moldova more powerful and united,” stated Maxim Gutu.

The participants in the march went along Banulescu Bodoni St and Mateevici St, will go by the Academy of Music, Theater and Plastic Arts, where the union of Bessarabia and Romania was voted on March 27, 1918, and will then go along Sfatul Tarii St up to Stefan cel Mare Blvd and will turn to Europe Square, where a rally was staged.
