With 98.3% of the vote records processed by midday, the results are as follows: the Party of Socialists won 31.32% of the ballot, the electoral bloc ACUM Platform DA and PAS – 26.41%, the Democratic Party – 23.86% and the Shor Party – 8.4%. The preliminary results show no other parties will pass the election threshold of 6%, IPN reports.
Central Election Commission president Alina Russu told a press briefing that the final results will be presented after all the vote records brought to the Commission in the original are processed. These will be presented until February 26, 9pm.
After the CEC adds up the results in the national constituency, in single-member constituencies and of the referendum, it will compile a report and will submit it and other required documents to the Constitutional Court, which will pronounce on the legality and validation of elections.
The February 24 parliamentary elections involved 1 453 013 voters, which is a turnout of 49.22%.
For the first time in the Republic of Moldova, the 101 MPs were elected based on the mixed electoral system under which 50 MPs are elected according to party lists in the national constituency, while 51 MPs are elected in 51 single-member constituencies.
