96% of the elevators of the municipal housing fund exceeded their expected lifespan, which is 25 years. More and more elevators go out of service and arouse the dissatisfaction of the tenants. The data was presented at the capital's City Hall meeting by Ion Stanciu, director of the Liftservice municipal enterprise.

Ion Stanciu added that lift service tariffs, approved in 2009, no longer cover expenses. The medium salary in the private sector of the economy has increased almost threefold since 2009. Similarly, the electricity tariff has increased several times. According to the company director, the spare parts for elevators are purchased from abroad and are expensive.

According to Ion Stanciu, Liftservice faces another problem, namely the fact that it lacks qualified personnel. Due to low salaries, specialists quit their jobs after two or three years of activity.

Ion Stanciu said that the Municipal Council did not allocate financial sources for 2019 for changing elevators in the municipal housing fund. In previous years, about five million lei were allocated annually.

Liftservice operates 2529 elevators.
