94% of Moldova’s population is vaccinated against viral hepatitis B. The National Public Health Center (CNSP) urges the other 6% to see the private vaccination points in Chisinau in order to avoid the risk of getting the disease. The message was issued on the occasion of the World Hepatitis Day on July 28.
Constantin Spynu, vice director of CNSP, told Info-Prim Neo that all newborns are vaccinated against hepatitis B for free. People born before 1994, when free vaccination was started, were immunized later regardless of age, as the vaccine is harmless.
“Delta-form hepatitis can develop only in the presence of viral hepatitis B, so that the vaccine also eliminates the risk of this disease. We also have a vaccine for hepatitis A, which is mostly administered to people who travel to countries where the infection risk is high”, said Constantin Spynu.
Vaccination in private institutions costs between 200 and 300 lei. Doctors urge people to accept inoculation against hepatitis and other diseases, as this is the most efficient method to avoid infection risks.
