93.8% of respondent pupils of a survey consider necessary learning the course life habits in schools

93.8% of students who took part in a a survey made by the centre of Young Journalist of Moldova and the Communication Network in Health (RCDS) opted for learning the class Life Habits (DDV). Thus 40,6% of respondents appreciated as very necessary studying DDV, 36,2% – as necessary and 17% – sometimes necessary. In the opinion of 87,5% of respondents, DDV class has to be included in the scholar curriculum, 41% – as compulsory class, and 46,5% - optional. As the respondents mentioned, the majority of parents (68,4%), approve the studying of the object by their children and only 6,7 % - disapprove. The majority of respondents (38,7%) also wish that school to be as information source in drug issue, 29,9% – in resolving conflicts, 24,7% - sexuality problems. Survey respondents were asked about the current level of information regarding the conflicts, sexuality, drugs, communications, and relations with parents and friends. RCDS coordinator, Irina Zatusevschi, noted on Tuesday, at the press conference that the aim of the survey was to find out the opinion of pupils who learnt this class, as its adepts and opponents forget to ask the opinion of those to who it is made. She mentioned that the survey did not intend to evaluate the quality of the manual or certain chapters a part. In the same time, she also noted that the report on the ground of this survey would be submitted to UNICEF to Moldova for examination, as well as to the ministry of health. During the press conference, the volunteers who made this survey said that the pupils fulfilled the forms of the survey while the reactions and were not influenced by their parents, teachers while expressing their opinion. The survey was held on 10-25 December 2005, on 1,794 de respondents, aged 11-18. it was held in 11 high schools, five of them in urban area (towns Soldanesti, Causeni, Soroca, Moldovan-Turkish high school and Spiru Haret of Chisinau; as well as six in rural area – high schools of the villages Slobozia Mare, Bardar, Crihana Veche, Navarnet, Petresti, Taraclia.
