The Chisinau Emergency Service 903 received over 1,500 calls on New Year's Eve and the day after. Eufalia Negreata, coordinating doctor at the Service, said the number hasn't differed very much from regular days.
Some 100 people needed treatment for injuries. A man was admitted to hospital with a broken arm and burns after a petard explosion.
During the New Year's Eve festivities in the Great National Assembly Square, where 2 ambulances stood watch, only one person needed medical care. It was a student who suffered a head injury.
In addition to traumas, other 903 cases included hypothermia, acute respiratory infections, and food and alcohol poisonings.
