77 confirmed dead in Ukraine

The number of casualties in the violent clashes in Ukraine rose to 77, the Ukrainian Health Ministry said this morning. About 600 persons were injured, 400 of whom were hospitalized. The press reported over 100 dead people, IPN reports.

Yesterday evening, the Supreme Rada banned the anti-terrorism operation. The Ukrainian Parliament also ordered the police to return to the headquarters and to unblock the roads. A new meeting of the Supreme Rada was set to take place at 10.00.

The press in Ukraine reported that a crisis resolution agreement will be signed at the presidential residence today, at 12 noon. The decision was taken after eight hours of discussions.

Deputy chief of Ukraine’s Armed Forces General Staff Iury Dumanskiy has resigned. It was earlier announced that the metro in Kiev resumed work.

The protests in Ukraine started last November. The new violent clashes that erupted on February 18 claimed dozens of lives.
