Seventy-two families whose dwellings were destroyed by floods this summer have received houses bought by the Government for them as well as documents certifying ownership over the houses, Info-Prim Neo reports. Prime Minister Vlad Filat said he was pleased that the government manged to buy and transfer ownership of the houses within the established time limits. The premier extended his gratitude to all people and organizations, including the external partners, who showed compassion and contributed money which made it possible to buy the homes. “We have demonstrated solidarity, demonstrated that we can be there for the people in need, demonstrated that together we can be a nation, and this means that we have a future”, declared the prime minister. The bought homes are located in 20 districts of the country. The average cost of one house is 185,000 lei. The families who had some savings or who were helped by relatives had the possibility to supplement the amounts allocated by the Government and buy more spacious houses. Svetlana Iacovici, a woman from Ungheni who received one of the homes, said she was glad. “This is a big relief for us. Now the children can go to school and things return to normal. But we suffered a lot when everything that we had was gone”. “We came to take the documents for my mother-in-law, who received a house in Sarata-Galbena. Her old house was bigger, but this one is good enough, too: it has 22 ares of land. For an elderly woman this is not so bad”, said Maria Zaharco from Cotul Morii. Polina Corduneanu decided to move together with her family into a five-roomed apartment in Hincesti. “Two separate rooms are for my son's family, who is married, and three are for us and our parents, who are old and need help. The Government gave us 500,000 lei, but we also received help from relatives and one sponsor. I'm grateful to all, because we were really despaired, especially the parents”. The Government allocated a total sum of 12.7 million lei for the purchase of the houses.
