Friends and colleagues of writer, dramatist and scriptwriter Nicolae Esinencu opened today an exhibition themed “The Terrible Child at 70 Years” to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the author. But the writer did not come. His colleagues say it is in Esinencu's nature to play such 'tricks' and they name him “a terrible child” for this, Info-Prim Neo reports. The exhibit “The Terrible Child at 70 Years” includes poetry and prose books, the debut works, books issued in other languages, the interviews given by Nicolae Esinecu as well as portraits and pictures of the writer together with his best friends. Attending the literary festivity, Moldova's Acting President Mihai Ghimpu congratulated the writer in his absence. “I know his character and I'm not angry with him that he did not come,” Ghimpu said, adding that Esinencu had the talent to write and the power to say what he thinks and how he sees things. Arcadie Suceveanu, the vice president of the Writers Union, explained Nicolae Esinencu's 'terribilism' like this: “He is a nonconformist man and writer that made effort to take literature out of the suffocating ideological patters, imposing a new lyrical discourse. His works are special as they are parodical, ironical, grotesque.” During the festivity, there was presented Nicolae Esinencu's novel “Vin Chinezii” (“The Chinese Are Coming”) published at Magna-Priceps. Poet Iulian Filip said he has not yet read the novel, but presumes it is about the guests that visit Moldova. Nicolae Esinencu wrote the shortest poem in the world titled “Bob-Glob”. Writer Ion Ciocanu said Esinencu was the one to introduce miniature poems in our literature. Among such poems are “Toamna Doamna, “Lelita-Garofita” and others. Nicolae Esinencu was born in Chitcani village of Telenesti district in 1940. He is a members of the Writers Union of Moldova and of the Writers Union of Romania. Among one of the most famous works of Esinencu is the script for the film “Turnul de lemn” “Wooden Cannon”, which was awarded at the National Film Festival in Costinesti, Romania.
