Seven thousand employees of educational institutions in Chisinau risk to lose their salaries and annual bonuses before the winter holidays. The announcement was made by the deputy director of the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sport of the Chisinau City Hall. Andrei Pavaloi explained that, at the end of the year, the municipality will not have the necessary financial sources and that they should be transferred by the central authorities, IPN reports.
Andrei Pavaloi noted that for November and December, there are many contracts already signed, but the money has not been transferred, even if the works are to be executed or the purchased goods are to be delivered.
"The savings the central authorities are talking about cannot be used because the money has to be transferred to the economic agents. Thus, by the end of the year, the City Hall will not have the necessary funds to pay salaries and bonuses", said Andrei Pavaloi.
As a result, says the municipal official, almost 7 000 people, mostly employed in small educational institutions, especially kindergartens - which account for 95% of cases - risk being left, on the eve of the winter holidays, not only without the annual bonus, but also without salaries.
Olesea Pșenițchi, head of the General Directorate of Finance of the Chisinau Municipal Council, said that the directorate has twice requested financial resources to cover the salary expenses of educational institutions. It should be noted that almost 344 institutions have financial coverage from the capital's budget.
The Chisinau City Hall has asked the Government to identify an additional 164 million lei to pay salaries for November and to pay the annual bonus to employees of educational institutions.
