A girl, 7, died after falling from the fourth floor of an apartment building in the city of Bender. It happened while the child was at home with her twin sister, and their mother had gone out.
The de facto Transnistrian authorities reported that the girls were playing together and, at one point, one of the sisters went to the kitchen to drink some water. She saw the window ajar, opened it fully and climbed onto the windowsill. The child fell on a concrete surface. The injuries were fatal.
Parents are repeatedly warned not to leave children unattended in rooms with opened windows. From a young age, it must be explained to them about the dangers to which they may be exposed. To exclude direct access to the windowsill, no furniture or other objects that children can climb on must be placed nearby. Window handles must be locked with special mechanisms.
