Four administrators of scrap metal collection companies are under criminal investigation for tax evasion of over 6.5 million lei. According to the authorities, they allegedly hid taxes from the state during 2019-2021, IPN reports.
Law enforcement officers carried out searches in Chisinau and its suburbs and in Stefan Vodă, Drochia and Orhei districts.
After the series of raids, sums of money that were allegedly included in the evasion scheme - almost 100,000 lei, over €12,000 and over US$7,000 - were seized. Also, accounting documents, drafts and electronic devices were found and are to be examined.
The authorities inform that the persons concerned, aged between 40 and 60, are under criminal investigation, but benefit from the presumption of innocence until an eventual conviction.
The investigation continues so as to establish all the circumstances of the case.
