6,500 forged dollar bills uncovered in Comrat

The police have detained two Turkish citizens, who tried to sell forged dollar bills in Comrat, the Gagauz autonomy. The two men aged 26 and 34, residents of Istanbul, are probed for bringing some 6,500 fake dollars to Moldova in order to exchange them on lei or real dollars, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the Interior Ministry. An undercover officer bought 1,000 fake bills against 5,000 lei from them. During the corporeal research, the police have found one of the suspects had 1,000 fake bills. The police discovered 4,400 forged bills in their apartment rented in Comrat. The suspects have told the police they brought the bills by air from Turkey, without declaring them. The men hid the money in hand-carried baggage. If found guilty of making and selling fake money, they may get jailed from 10 to 20 years. 127 offenses related to forging money have been recorded this year in Moldova.
