Employees of the Leuseni-Albita customs post thwarted an attempt to smuggle 62kg of red caviar into Moldova, without paying customs duties. The caviar was transported by a man aged 39, IPN repots.
According to the Customs Service, the vehicle with a Moldovan license number was coming from Germany. The driver declared only consumer goods and personal belongings. During the check, the customs officers found the salmon caviar to the value of tens of thousands of lei hidden in the man’s personal bag and under the backseat of the vehicle.
Moreover, the caviar was transported in insanitary conditions, without documents of origin and by ignoring the quality standards. The man faces a fine of 3,000 lei and confiscation of the goods.
