Sixty-two children in Moldova contracted the novel coronavirus. Fifty-five of them are being treated at the Municipal Clinical Hospital of Contagious Diseases. Forty of these are in a medium state, while 15 suffer from mild forms of the disease. Seven children in a medium state were admitted to the Mother and Child Institute, stated Svetlana Lupu, head of the Hospital Medical Assistance Policy Division, being quoted by IPN.
In a news conference staged by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, Svetlana Lupu said that no serious cases were reported among children diagnosed with COVID-19. All the hospitalized children benefit from complex treatment and can stay in the hospital together with their parents. The length of treatment depends on the form of infection developed by the child. This is different, depending on the situation, and last from two weeks to 40 days.
Initially, two institutions accepted children confirmed with the novel coronavirus. The children in a medium state and with mild forms of the disease were admitted to the Municipal Clinical Hospital of Contagious Diseases, while those in a serious state to the Mother and Child Institute. As of May 8, the Bălți Clinical Hospital started to treat children with COVID-19 from northern Moldova.
