A woman functionary of the Cahul Court, a police officer and a lawyer are investigated for influence peddling, IPN reports.
According to the National Anticorruption Center, the denouncer said the three, acting in collusion, asked and received €6,000 for influencing judges of the Cahul Appeals Court to take a favorable decision in relation to the culprit by upholding the suspended sentence.
In the afternoon of July 25, the three were arrested for 72 hours and are held in the remand unit of the National Anticorruption Center. If they are found guilty of influence peddling, they will serve a maximum of six years in jail or will be fined at most 200,000 lei.
