Some 60% of the persons working in the education sector of the municipality of Chisinau have been vaccinated by now. The figure is to be raised to 70% by the start of the new school year, Viorica Negrei, deputy head of the General Education, Youth and Sport Division, announced in the August 2 meeting of officials of municipal services, IPN reports.
The functionary said the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research informed by a letter that in the context of COVID-19, the same education methods will be applied during the 2021-2022 school year as the previous year, depending on the epidemiological situation in the settlement. Among the seven possible models is distance learning and physical presence in classrooms. These two forms are now being considered.
Deputy mayor Olga Ursu said Chisinau was put on yellow alert owing to the constant rise in the number of COVID-19 cases. Doctors report a higher number of admissions to the hospital and of deaths from COVID-19.
Olga Ursu noted that the municipal vaccination units provide all the types of COVID-19 vaccines that are in demand. Vaccination remains a priority, especially because the new school year is close.
A vaccination marathon intended for education system employees was staged in Chisinau on July 30-31. About 850 municipal teachers got vaccinated there. The 70 vaccination units available in Chisinau work throughout the week, from 8am until 6pm. The mobile immunization points (bus and trolleybus) also continue work.
