Sixty Moldovan children aged between two and 15 who suffer from type I diabetes will benefit from free specialized medical care at the Children’s Rehabilitation Center “Sergeevca” in Ukraine, starting with July 22, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the children were chosen depending on age and the gravity of the disease by pediatric endocrinologists of the Mother and Child Institute.
During the 18 treatment days, the children are supplied with insulin, glucometers and tests, being assisted by four endocrinologists from national medical institutions. They will also benefit from a training program called “School of type I diabetics” within which they will be informed about the control of diabetes and methods of choosing the correct foodstuff, depending on the disease.
The Children’s Rehabilitation Center “Sergeevca” in Ukraine is one of the specialized centers managed by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection. About 3,500 children with chronic diseases are annually treated there.
