Since the war in Ukraine broke out, 56 Ukrainian children have been born in the hopsitals of Chisinau. Also, 582 pregnant refugee women were supervised by doctors. Thanks to the support provided by the International Organization for Migration Chisinau, the women who gave birth were offered parcels with diapers and formula milk, IPN reports.

Since February 24, 2022, over 100 pregnant women received treatment in stationary conditions at the municipal hospital “Gh. Paladi” and Maternity Hospital No. 2 and gave birth to 56 children. The refugee children benefit free from the same range of medical services as the Moldovan children.

“Each pregnant refugee woman who is admitted to municipal hospitals has an own life story. Fleeing from the war and reaching Chisinau, they need medical assistance, permanent supervision and psychological counseling. Our doctors are making effort to ensure the safety and health of mothers and children. During the almost a year of war, 56 Ukrainian children were born in municipal maternity hospitals and these benefit absolutely free from the same medical services as the children from the Republic of Moldova, when it goes to prophylactic examinations, including the supervision of the child’s development, vaccination, ambulatory and hospital primary medical assistance services,” said the deputy mayor of Chisinau Angela Kutasevich.

Parcels with diapers and formula milk were distributed through the agency of the General Medical and Social Assistance Division of the Chisinau City Hall from a donation made by the International Organization for Migration Chisinau.
