53 homes bought for flood victims

53 houses have been bought so far to accommodate the families which lost their homes in a series of flooding events in late July and early August. According to the Ministry of Constructions and Territorial Development, the 53 homes were purchased by 36 economic entities from Briceni district, 11 from Stefan Voda district and 6 from Rascani. In providing flood victims with housing, buying houses is preferred as the fastest way to accomplish this goal. Another argument in favor of purchasing is lower costs than in the case of building them, as well as the fact that most bought houses already have furniture, gardens and plantations, the Ministry said. According to the accounts of the task forces that monitored the situation in the settlements affected by flooding, a total of 454 houses were flooded, 280 of which sustained irreparable damages.
