48.32% of citizens in Chisinau municipality voted for Maia Sandu

In Chisinau, over 358,000 electors voted in the presidential election. According to preliminary data, both in the capital city and in the suburban settlements, most of the citizens voted for incumbent President Maia Sandu, who is running for a new presidential term. Alexandr Stoianoglo is in second place, both in the districts of Chisinau and in the suburban localities, and is followed by Renato Usatii. The exception is Botanica district, where Irina Vlah is in third place, IPN reports.

After all the vote reports in Chisinau municipality were counted, the PAS candidate Maia Sandu is shown to have gained 48.32% of the vote. For the PSRM candidate Alexandr Stoianoglo, 28.30% of the residents of Chisinau voted. Renato Usatyi won 8.28% of the poll.

The next places were occupied by:

Ion Chicu – 2.41%
Victoria Furtună – 1.28%

Natalia Morari – 0.74%
Tudor Ulianovschi – 0.72%

In the suburban settlements, the votes were distributed as follows:

Maia Sandu – 55.87%
Alexandr Stoianoglo – 19.20%
Renato Usatyi – 11.86%
Irina Vlah – 3.54%
Vasile Tarlev – 2.67%
Ion Chicu – 2.36%
Octavian Țîcu – 1.19%
Victoria Furtună – 1.06%
Andrei Năstase – 0.90%
Morari Natalia– 0.69%
Tudor Ulianovschi – 0.65%.

Nationwide, with 98.47% of the vote reports counted, Maia Sandu is the leader with 42.04% of the ballot and Alexandr Stoianoglo is in second place with 26.27% of the poll.

According to the Electoral Code, if none of the candidates for the office of President of the Republic of Moldova gains at least half of the poll, a runoff vote between the two candidates who obtained most of the votes in the first round of voting is held in two weeks of the date of the first round.
