As many as 42,000 young people will vote for the first time on October 20. They are expected to go to the polls to exercise their right to vote in the presidential election and the constitutional referendum on joining the European Union. The Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă said that the young people, along with other members of society, have the power to influence the present and future of the country, IPN reports.

In a press conference, Daniel Vodă noted that sometimes it seems that a single vote does not make a difference, but the truth is that every vote counts. The young people have the right to make their voices heard and can contribute to changes in society. “The figure of the day for me is that this year 42,000 young people will be able to vote for the first time. Voting is cool, in addition to the fact that we have the opportunity to vote with confidence,” stated the Government’s spokesman.

In the last election, only a quarter of the voting-eligible young people went to the polls.
