400,000 residents from northern Moldova to have access to drinking water

Representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) finished the feasibility study for a project to supply drinking water to about 400,000 people living in northern Moldova and started the second stage to formulate the technical documents needed to implement the project and to create the association that will manage the future aqueduct, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of the Environment, there will be opened negotiations on the financing agreement for implementing the water supply project. In a meeting, Minister of the Environment Gheorghe Salaru and the EBRD representatives discussed the main water supply and sewerage projects that are under implementation and a number of planned projects.

A separate subject for discussion was the project to supply drinking water to the northern Moldova. The EBRD already provided a grant of €1.2 million for making the feasibility study for the project. Within this project, the water supply infrastructure in the districts of Sorocoa, Drochia, Floresti, Rascani, Sangerei, Telenesti and in the municipality of Balti will be improved.
