37 tons of pesticides will be destroyed in Chisinau municipality within the frameworks of the NATO/PfP-OSCE-ENV-SEC project on eliminating pesticides and dangerous chemical produces in the R. of Moldova. Deputy Mayor of the municipality of Chisinau, Petru Svet declared within the frameworks of a sitting at the City Hall, on Monday, November 13 that pesticides from Chisinau are stored in the warehouses of 8 localities, but the greatest quantity is stored in Bubuieci, Bacioi, Colonita and Durlesti. Deputy Mayor requested that responsible persons from the City Hall contribute to the implementation of this project only with supplying with food persons who would transport and destroy pesticides from the Municipality of Chisinau. The Launching of the NATO project in Moldova took place on November 7. The main agent of the projects is the NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency who carried out the feasibility study for the project, coordinated by Great Britain. The project, which is the most solid initiative implemented under the aegis of NATO in the R. of Moldova, has the aim of destroying 1600 tons of pesticides and dangerous chemical substances, stored in inappropriate conditions in about 358 localities of the country. Pfp Assistance Fund is composed of voluntary contributions from partner and allied states, as well as member-states of OSCE. Romania’s contribution is the most solid – EUR 200,000. Other countries participating in the financing are Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, Ireland, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Turkey.
