The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) identified multiple violations in the activity of providing financial support to national agricultural producers and started 34 criminal cases in this regard, IPN reports, quoting a communique of the PGO.

Among the identified violations are the falsification of documents presented to the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture, asking for subsidies for purchasing new machinery that was actually used, presentation of false data about the made investments, artificial raising of the cost of investment with the aim of obtaining a higher subsidy.

A part of these cases were already sent to court.

According to the PGO, there were identified cases when public servants of the Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, using their authority, drafted and favored the adoption of Government decisions on the method of using the agriculture subsidization fund.

In 2010 – 2013, there were favored only the applicants who purchased or sold agricultural machinery through the 2-KR Project, who were under the direct protection of public functionaries. Considerable damage was thus caused to the state budget.

The PGO ordered an investigation into the provision of agricultural subsidies on November 6 following media reports, information made public by agricultural associations, diverse complaints and petitions concerning the illegal allocation of subsidies for stimulating the development of areas in agriculture.
