3.3 thousand t. of wheat imported in Moldova within last 7 days

Over 3.3 thousand tonnes of wheat came in Moldova during the last seven days. The authorities said that the import prices are favourable, being lower than those set on the internal market. The republican commission for emergency situations stated on Friday, August 17 that the food security of Moldova is stable and it is closely monitored by the specialised bodies. The members of the commission said that only the offers with the lowest prices will be selected at the next auction on the purchase of wheat for the State Reserve, which will be attended by foreign importers. At the same time, the Commission supported the initiative on the creation of a single desk for the documents necessary when importing grains, in order to ease the procedures. According to the presented information, reserves of wheat had been created in the majority of territorial administrative units. PM Vasile Tarlev asked to continue ensuring a rigorous control of the structure of prices in the case of bread, emphasising the fact that the unjustified increase in the price will not be admitted. At the same time, the PM asked for a thorough evaluation of the structure of prices of diary produces, saying that the working group responsible for this task proved to be inefficient, and the arguments on the reasons of the price increases are insufficient.
