A number of schools in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia and in Stefan Voda, Cahul and Taraclia districts were closed two days ago because of the low temperatures in classrooms and the snowy roads that prevented the students from getting to school. On January 31, several schools in Rascani district also stopped work. As many as 31 education institutions in Moldova interrupted the education process owing to the unfavorable weather conditions, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Education, there were cancelled 62 school bus routes in 22 districts. More than 2,000 students could not be thus taken to district schools. In 14 education institutions, the duration of classes was reduced to 30-35 minutes.

The schools in Ialoveni and Cantemir that were closed on January 30 resumed work.
