302 of 305 voting reports processed: Ion Ceban – 50.65%, Lilian Carp – 28.20%

After 302 voting reports of the 305 were processed, the National Alternative Movement’s candidate for mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban is shown to have gained 50.65% of the vote. He is followed by the Party of Action and Solidarity’s candidate Lilian Carp with 28.20% of the poll, IPN reports, quoting the preliminary data presented by the Central Election Commission.

The candidate of the Party of Socialist Adrian Albu gained 4.53% of the vote, the “Dignity and Truth Platform” Party’s candidate Victor Chironda – 3.81%, the Revival Party’s candidate Vasile Bolea – 2.42%, the candidate of the Party “Democracy at Home” Vasile Costiuc – 2.1%. The other contenders polled less than 2% of the ballot.

Under the Electoral Code, if none of the candidates gains more than half of the valid votes cast, a runoff vote involving the two candidates with the highest number of votes in the first round voting is held in two weeks. The runoff vote is won by the candidate who obtains the largest number of votes.

After 303 of the 305 voting reports were processed, the votes for the Chisinau Municipal Council look as follows: MAN – 33.15%, PAS – 32.81%, PSRM – 9.68%, PCRM – 4.46%, Revival Party – 2.65%, PPDA – 2.55%. The other parties obtained less than 2% of the poll.

The council elections consist of one round. The seats of councilor to parties and electoral blocs are distributed by successively dividing the number of valid votes cast for each party and bloc by 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. up to the digit that corresponds to the number of seats set for the given electoral constituency.
