The National Association of European Trainers (ANTEM) in association with the Institute IDIS Viitorul, will re-launch on September 15 an initiative meant to improve official language proficiency among Moldova’s public sector employees, an initiative supported by the Hague-based OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities. According to the organizers, it is planned that approximately 300 public functionaries whose proficiency levels in Romanian (formally called Moldovan) are limited will attend the courses. These courses will improve their professional efficiency and help them integrate socially, culturally and professionally. The re-launch of the program will be preceded by a training session for the teachers involved in the project. The ANTEM professional network was created in 2005 at the initiative of IDIS Vitorul to respond to the need for linguistic proficiency of adult non-Moldovans and foreign citizens living in Moldova. In the period from 2005 to 2008, more than 500 public functionaries working in multi-ethnical locations acquired the official language of Moldova.
