Thirty education institutions in Cantemir, Cahul, Ialoveni, Stefan Voda, UTA Gagauzia and Taraclia districts suspended work for two days owing to the unfavorable weather conditions, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Education informed that 21 school bus routes were cancelled. Almost 700 students weren’t thus taken to the district schools.
Owing to the very low temperatures in classrooms, the length of lessons in seven schools in Calarasi, Sangerei, Edinet, Orhei, Stefan Voda and in Gagauzia was decreased to 30 - 35 minutes.
According to the National Patrolling Inspectorate, more than 60 trucks got stuck on the Cahul-Giurgiulesti road because of snowdrifts.
On January 29, it snowed heavily in the southern and central districts of Moldova. The yellow code advisory for difficult weather conditions covers January 30 too.
