Romania is home to 11,000 infected persons, according to official data. The annual pace of new cases varies from 360 to 600.
Russia announced 334,000 cases, but the UN Office estimates one million cases, meaning 1% of the population.
Ukraine reported 80,000 cases, but experts talk about more than 500,000 cases, representing also 1 % of the country’s population.
The UN Programme on AIDS found that 25 years after the first signal of the malady appeared, there are 40 million people in the world who suffer from this disease. Since 1981, AIDS killed 25 million.
