Moldova must undertake a series of measures in order to qualitatively reform the judicial system, Sergiu Ostaf, executive director of the Resource Center for Human Rights (CREDO) declared.
Ostaf told Info-Prim Neo that one of the key actions is to improve the professional skills of judges, considerably improving the management of courts, a better systematization of the existent practice and offering assistance on the cases. As well it is necessary to technically and materially supply the courts, to increase the wages for judges, to improve the procedure of cases’ distribution.
Ostaf also considers that it is needed to pay attention to the modernization of the role and competence (modern European mentality) of the Superior Magistrates Court, to make more transparent the legal cases and to publish the decision of courts, to create a modern judicial staff with a mentality based on the principles of market economy, democracy and European values.
Another important action, according to the quoted source is the autonomous financial managing of the judicial system and transparent appointing of judges.
Justice reform and the necessity for an independent justice is one of the main problems of Moldova, national and international experts consider.
