The police have detained three Moldovans suspected of bribery, influence peddling and forging driver licenses, Info-Prim Neo reports. A top officer with the Ministry of Domestic Affairs, Vasile Sarcov, told a news conference on Tuesday the police arrested the director and a trainer at a driver training center in a branch of the Army in Leova town. They extorted and got 450 euros from a person. The money was accepted to issue a driver license.
The police have searched the director's office and have found over 190 forged school certificates, issued from 2004 through 2008. The suspects may get 5 years of prison.
In similar circumstances, the law-enforcement bodies took into custody the manager of a driver training school from Chisinau. The man is accused of extorting and receiving 1,750 lei from a person to issue a certificate confirming he attended the training courses to get the driver license.
Since the beginning of the year, the police have started 8 law suits for corruption, forging documents and power abuse.
According to the police, the beginner drivers (less than 1 year of experience) have committed 10.7% of the total number of car crashes this year.
