3-4 road accidents per day occur in Chisinau

3-4 road accidents on average occur each day in Chisinau municipality, which result in at least 4 injured persons. Thus, over the last year, 96 people died and 1,505 were injured in Chisinau municipality in 1,195 traffic accidents. According to the Road Police, the greatest number of last year’s road accidents happened in the months of September and October, by 117 accidents. In April – 115 road accidents, in May – 105, in January – 9. In June, July and August – by 97 road accidents, in November – 94, in December – 84 and in February – 77. The middle and the end of the week registered an increased number of accidents. Thus, on Thursday 206 accidents resulted in 12 casualties and 260 injuries, on Friday – 175 accidents resulted in 13 casualties and 219 injured persons, on Saturday – 171 road accidents resulted in 19 casualties and 25 injured persons. The hours between 4 and 6 pm seem to be the “blackest” ones. Last year, it was this interval of time which saw 158 road accidents resulted in 17 dead and 191 injured. Fewer accidents are registered during the night; still they are more dangerous and have more serious consequences. In the hours between midnight and 6 am 92 road accidents resulted in 13 dead and 151 injured. The city is the region where most accidents happen, but, according to the statistics, the routes outside the city also register an increased number of dead and injured. A great number of road accidents happened on Dacia blvd, where 7 people died, on Petricani and Alba Iulia streets where by 4 persons died, Ion Creanga street – 3 dead, Uzinelor, Alecu Russo, Ismail, Gagarin blvd, Hancesti, Calea Mosilor, Renasterii blvd, Trandafirilor streets, Traian blvd – by 2 dead persons. In the regions outside the city the first place in the top of casualties is held by the Chisinau-Ungheni route, where 10 people died and 29 were injured in 19 serious road accidents. 6 persons lost their lives in 21 accidents on Chisinau-Orhei route. 2 were killed and 9 injured in 6 accidents on Anenii-Noi route. The village of Gratiesti is on the first place among Chisinau suburbs with 6 accidents resulted in 3 dead and 6 injured. In the top of casualty-causes the first places are held by non-offering priority, drivers’ inattention, speeding, and jaywalking.
