29 young Moldovans studying abroad have been awarded at the Gala of Students from Moldova. The event was organized by the Bureau for Diaspora Relations and the Association of Moldovan Students in France “Jeunes Moldaves”, IPN reports.

The special award of acting Prime Minister Iurie Leanca was received by Mircea Ene, who is studying for a master's degree in architecture at Harvard. Leanca said that he himself had studied and worked abroad, but then returned in Moldova and doesn't regret it. “I wholeheartedly hope that you will return here, but until then, you are welcome to contribute to the development of the country you are living in”, said the PM.

Iurie Leanca was impressed by the student's CV and letter of motivation. “In his letter of motivation, Mircea says that architecture is the physical manifestation of a country from an economic and cultural standpoint. In conclusion, he said that society can be changed through architecture. We are all looking for ways to change society and Mircea has an answer”, said the outgoing official.

The head of the government even suggested Mircea a topic for his degree work: “How should the architecture of a modern capital and country look?”. “I'd offer Mircea the position of chief architect of Moldova, but until then I invite him to think in advance about a general development plan for Chisinau and systemic approach”, said the PM. He also agreed to meet with the award winners at the beginning of the next year to exchange ideas and discuss possible projects.

Overall, 147 applicants studying in 26 countries have entered the competition. The event is meant to make known in Moldova the exceptional academic results of Moldovan students abroad.
