Since the beginning of the summer, 28 cases of sunstroke were registered in Moldova; ten of the cases happened in Chisinau. The data were presented by Minister of Healthcare Andrei Usatii, on Thursday, during a meeting of the Emergencies Commission, reports Info-Prim Neo.
Medical institutions installed stations for measuring arterial tensions, where patients can also drink water. Additionally, these stations offer first-aid in case of sunstroke. “The Ministry of Healthcare has taken, and will continue taking all measures necessary to diminish the negative effect of the dog days on the population’s health”, stated the minister.
Premier Vlad Filat ordered continuous monitoring of the situation and prompt reaction in cases of emergency.
Doctors recommend the citizens to spend more time indoors, during dog days. Especially, people with health problems should avoid sun exposure, and should take their medications regularly. The head and face should be protected from sun rays with hats, umbrellas or tissues. The clothing should be light, made of cotton, with light colors, and good hydration is crucial.
