27 new Peace Corps Volunteers sworn in

Twenty-seven Peace Corps Volunteers have been sworn in today and will
work as English and Health Education teachers in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo
reports, quoting a press release from the U.S. Embassy.
Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in the Republic of Moldova Marcus
Micheli officiated at the swearing-in ceremony for the 27 new Peace
Corps Volunteers. Deputy Minister of Health Gheorghe Turcanu and Peace
Corps Country Director Jeffrey Goveia also welcomed these new Volunteers
into service with Peace Corps in Moldova.
These 27 Volunteers arrived in Moldova on June 9 and recently completed
a rigorous course of training to become agriculture, business, and
community development advisors throughout Moldova. Additionally, these
new Volunteers have begun learning Romanian and Russian.
With the addition of these 27 Volunteers, Peace Corps now has 75
Volunteers serving in Moldova working in four projects: Agribusiness and
Rural Business Development, Community and Organizational Development,
English Education, and Health Education in Schools and Communities. In
2011, Peace Corps will train a total of 53 Volunteers for service in
Moldova
