Trees and bushes will be this year planted on 2,500 hectares of uncultivated land, in accordance with the National Plan for Extending the Wooded Areas for 2014-2018. The nursery of the forestry company “Hancesti Silva” in Bozieni is growing saplings of walnut, bird cherry, lime and oak trees that will be planted on those areas, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of the Environment, the greening campaign forms part of the activities planned to mark the International Day of Forests on March 21. Minister of the Environment Sergiu Palihovici assured that the projects in the forestry sector will be supported through the National Ecological Fund and with other national and international funds, noting that the Ministry is examining a new document for Moldova, which would stimulate the absorption of funds in the environment sector.
The activities to plant trees will be more intense in autumn, when the event “A Tree for our Eternity”, which was instituted by presidential decree, will be celebrated on the last Saturday of October.
