Nineteen persons were hospitalized with food poisoning after they took part in a wedding ceremony in Gura Bacului village of Anenii Noi district on September 2. A part of the wedding guests were taken to the Anenii Noi District Hospital, while others to the Infectious Diseases Hospital “Toma Ciorba” in Chisinau.
Contacted by IPN, head of the Anenii Noi Public Health Center Alexandru Coteata said that six more persons who attended the wedding ceremony asked for medical assistance and are to be taken to the hospital today. Thus, the total number of those affected rose to 25.
The patients were diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis. Their condition is medium grave.
The wedding reception was attended by 160 persons. No cases of poisoning were earlier recorded in the restaurant where the ceremony was held. Specialists took samples from the restaurant and from sick people to find out the exact cause of infection.
