Seven articulated trolleybuses purchased in Austria and 18 trolleybuses bought in Riga are expected to reach Chisinau by the end of May. The announcement was made by mayor general Ion Ceban at the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services. The mayor said that priority is given to large-capacity articulated trolleybuses to deal with the large flow of passengers that will start on September 1. All trolleybuses will be checked both technically and aesthetically and maintenance will be ensured, IPN reports.
“I want to remind that the Chisinau City Hall managed to bring a record number of transport units, namely over 300 trolleybuses and buses. Today we have practically no old buses. We only have a few old trolleybuses, about 10, and the inhabitants feel the difference in this regard. We continue to bring public transport,” said Ion Ceban.
Currently, the Chisinau Electric Transport Company has about 400 trolleybuses. By the end of this year, its fleet will be supplemented with another 43 trolleybuses that were recently purchased in Riga.
