Eight of these served time in jail for drug-related offenses, driving under the influence, robbery and swindle. Five of the suspects are students.

The 25 arrested persons are aged between 19 and 47. They are accused of organizing and intermediating trafficking in drugs. Three are women, one of whom is pregnant.

Within the operation, the police seized over 35 kg of drugs of different types, four pistols and over 250 cartridges and camouflage equipment.

Corneliu Groza, head of the Municipal Police Division, said the drugs were sold through social networking sites and electronic communications programs. In Chisinau alone, they identified about 100 places where the drugs were left for clients. The drugs were smuggled from the Netherlands, China, Ukraine and other states.

If the suspects are found guilty, they will serve 7 to 15 years in jail.
