25 social and commercial objects of the district consumer cooperative “HANCOOP” are ravaged and left to perish, says Mayor of Hancesti Alexandru Botnari, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
“Perhaps someone is interested in letting these properties perish and then buy them for miserable prices. We have cafes, restaurants, shops – all in an indescribable state”, said the Mayor during a press conference.
According to Alexandru Botnari, the cooperative uses territories that belong to the local public authorities, yet does not pay the rent. “HANCOOP” owes the local authorities 2 million lei, and recently another 650.000 added up. The Mayor says that such money would be enough to repair one road, and light one street in the city. The cooperative says that it cannot afford to pay the rent for the fields where its belongings stand.
“MOLDCOOP and HANCOOP are like a holy cow; pardon me for my expression, but it is true. No one, neither the central authorities, nor the local ones can do them anything”, said the Mayor.
Alexandru Botnari kindly asked the members of the consumer cooperative to figure out which share of the properties is theirs, because no one knows how many of these are out for sale and for how much. “I am convinced that many are outraged, and many more will be. People worked there for years, and now someone is buying these goods for pennies”, the Mayor pointed out.
“MOLDCOOP” is a centralized union of consumer cooperatives.
