A fir tree will be brought from the Carpathian Mountains of Romania for the Christmas Fair that will be staged on 31 August St, as last year. The tree is donated by the Government of Romania. It will be about 20 meters in height and will be placed near the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac”. A panoramic wheel that will be 20 meters in height will also be installed at the Christmas Fair, IPN reports.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip told a news conference that over 5,000 children from placement centers and hospitals and children with disabilities, from socially-deprived families, including from the left side of the Nistru, will have free access to the skating rink and the carousel that will be available at the venue of the Christmas Fair.

“In the period of this nice winter holidays, we return to traditions and to our families and celebrate alongside the dear ones. At the Christmas Fair this year, you could also find handmade articles, handicrafts, traditional dishes and mulled wine whose aroma is typical of the Christmas Fair,” stated Pavel Filip. The song “Home on Christmas” sung by the band “Brio Sonoris” will be the fair’s hymn.

Two stages will be put at the fair – one for children’s artistic groups from all over the country and another one for artists who will create the atmosphere on the weekend evenings. The children could make a tour of the “magical town” with an enchanted train that will be represent a recreational element. The visitors could rediscover the spiritual part of Christmas at the Scene of the God’s Birth that will be set up in the courtyard of the Museum of Arts.

In a specially laid out area, Santa Claus will be waiting for kids to offer them presents. There will be set up the largest staking rink of the country.

The Christmas Fair will be inaugurated at 6pm on December 15, while the section of 31 August St between the streets Bănulescu-Bodoni and Pushkin will be closed to traffic starting with December 8, when the laying out works start. The costs for organizing the second Christmas Fair were estimated at 8 million lei.
